Best CS2 Knives in 2026: Real Prices & Value Picks
Updated August 29, 2026 — post-crash pricing. Quick answer: after the October 2025 crash, a real knife starts at ~$40–75 (Navaja/Shadow Daggers/Gut in camo finishes), vanilla blue chips run $780–1,300 (M9 < Karambit ≈ Butterfly), and 2026's best value sits with Talon, Stiletto, Flip and Nomad. Knives can now be crafted via trade-up — but the average craft loses money.

The big change: knives became craftable

Since Oct 23, 2025, 5 Covert skins from one collection → a random knife/glove from that collection (StatTrak inputs = StatTrak output; float = average of inputs). Practical consequences:

  • Regular knives fell 20–50% and were permanently repriced — there are now 50+ knife models/finishes under $100.
  • Crafting loses on average: inputs cost $300–1,000 and the outcome is random. Want a specific knife? Buy it directly.
  • Top StatTrak and rare patterns held value (trade-ups can't mint those).

Price table by tier (2026)

TierExamplesTypical price
EntryNavaja/Shadow Daggers/Gut in Rust Coat, Safari Mesh, Boreal Forest (BS/FT)~$40–90
Mid tableVanilla: Bayonet $250–500 · Talon ~$300–390 · Skeleton ~$245–320 · Stiletto ~$225–330 · Nomad ~$230–350$200–500
Blue chips (vanilla)M9 Bayonet ~$780–955 · Karambit ~$1,060–1,280 · Butterfly ~$1,260–1,310$800–1,300
Premium finishesDoppler P1/Tiger Tooth $600–1,200 · Karambit Fade $5–10k · Gamma Emerald $8–12k · Butterfly Marble Fade "Fire & Ice" $6–8k4–5 figures
Rules of thumb: the M9 runs 10–20% cheaper than Karambit/Butterfly like-for-like; the Butterfly carries a 10–30% animation premium; and vanilla is NOT the cheapest version — high-float camo finishes are.

Which knife to buy in 2026?

  • Best value: Talon (loopable inspect — Karambit's got nerfed), Stiletto, Flip and Nomad.
  • Fast resale: Karambit, Butterfly and M9 sell within hours; Navaja/Shadow Daggers can sit for weeks.
  • Flex on a budget: Fever Case generation (Mar 2025) Skeleton/Nomad — they gained Doppler, Tiger Tooth and Marble Fade; Skeleton Ruby (~$2,800) already outprices Talon Ruby.
  • The newest: Kukri (Kilowatt/Gallery, 2024) is still the newest model — vanilla ~$104–215. The Dead Hand case (Mar 2026) brought new gloves, not knives.
  • StatTrak? On a budget knife it adds 5–30% cost with no return — skip it. At the top end, ST holds value.
For finishes, we keep dedicated guides with paint-index tables and prices: Doppler phases, Gamma Doppler & Emerald and Case Hardened blue gem patterns.

FAQ

What's the cheapest CS2 knife in 2026?

Navaja, Shadow Daggers and Gut in camo finishes (Rust Coat/Safari Mesh/Boreal Forest) at high float — around $40–75 depending on the week and marketplace.

Karambit or Butterfly?

Looks and status are a coin flip; the Butterfly charges a 10–30% premium for the animation. On a tighter budget, the M9 delivers blue-chip class 10–20% cheaper than both.

Is crafting a knife via trade-up worth it?

On average, no — negative expected value. Trade-ups suit lottery lovers; if you want ONE specific knife, buying direct costs less.

Does float matter on knives?

Yes, but less than on rifles: finishes like Doppler lock float to 0.00–0.08. On entry camos, high float is exactly what makes them cheap.
